Active Isolated Stretch utilizes active repetitive and controlled movements to strengthen targeted muscles while at the same time stretching the opposing muscle. The gentle movements move you through a full range of motion delivering greater amounts of blood, lymph and nutrition to specific regions than static or isometric muscle contractions. The goal of this technique is to normalize posture and reclaim full range of motion in the joints of the body.
Active Isolated Stretch emphasizes short-duration muscle lengthening movements which help release fascial restrictions surrounding the muscles relieving localized or chronic pain, stiffness, limited range of motion and muscle knots.
Active Isolated Stretch is practiced by osteopaths, chiropractors, manual therapists and trainers of all kinds and is a vital component of injury prevention, rehabilitation, sports training and performance, longevity enhancement and in general a healthier lifestyle.
Participants will need to provide their own exercise mat and an exercise strap. Exercises will be seated and standing.
